The Friends of Prime Hook is a volunteer organization whose primary purpose is to assist the Refuge staff in many areas, such as public awareness, education and maintenance.
Some specific activities we undertake include:
- Operating the Friends Store
- Leading birding field trips
- Maintaining trails, bird houses and bird feeders
- Promoting the Refuge at public events
- Conductin an annual nature photo contest
- Maintaining the gardens around the Refuge

Notice 10/29/22: Help Wanted! Volunteers needed to keep the Prime Hook Friends’ store open to the public.
Hours good, only a short 3-1/2 hours a day with morning or afternoon hours available. Weparticularly need volunteers to staff the store on Friday, Saturday and Sunday but other days areopen as well. You will be our contact person with the public providing maps, information, and handlingmerchandise sales. We will train and help you until you are comfortable at the store.
Remember, all of our profits support the mission of Prime Hook National Wildlife Refuge. We area total non-profit volunteer organization.
