Sound of Sunset Walk-FREE
Friday, November 15, 2024
4:15 PM starting from the main parking lot at the Visitor Contact Station.
Join local naturalists on a walk to experience the sights and sounds of twilight on the refuge.
On November 15th our last Super Moon of the year will occur--there have been four in 2024. A super moon happens when a full moon coincides with the moon's closest approach to earth. A super moon looks 12 -14% bigger than a regular full moon. Join us for a sunset stroll along the Dike Trail.
The full moon will rise at 5pm, which is the same time that the sun sets on that night. Our goal is to get out to the observation platform in time to watch the super moon come over the horizon. If the sky turns out to be too cloudy, we will still take a walk on either the Dike Trail or the Boardwalk trail and watch and listen for nocturnal wildlife along the way.
The refuge will be closed on Tuesday, November 19, 2024, during the Headquarters Deer Hunt. This does not impact access to Fowler Beach.
